Got this myself on my phone, as well as it just refused to update. Below's what helped me.

Edit: this appears to be a problem that Facebook know. It's a concern with the Facebook app, and not a generalised Play Store concern.

This is what benefited me a minimum of.

  1. Settings > Applications > All > Google Play Shop, Clear data as well as Clear cache

  2. Settings > Applications > All > Google Play Provider > Manage area, Clear all information and Clear cache


It does not hurt if you reactivate your phone before you attempt upgrading facebook again. And also, the set up was SLOW. Just a minimum of 4-5 mins. But, it did job. Otherwise try to uninstall it, or just await a fix.
